| CSIRO is Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation. It is one of the world's largest and most diverse scientific global research organisations. The work carried out touches every aspect of Australian life: from the molecules that build life to the molecules in space. Beginning as the Advisory Council of Science and Industry in 1916, the CSIRO now comprises many sites across the nation and around the globe, employing over 6,500 staff.
